A good crowd of people turned up to attend this walk, 20 in total.
We left train station and made our way down to cycle track crossing over the Black Cart river and then continuing on track towards Kilbarchan. Weather was good with no rain. Nice walk through some fields and forest areas passing grazing horses on the way.
History of Dampton Pad
• Origin: Created in the early 1880s following a famous right-of-way legal battle between local villagers and the owner of the Glentyan Estate, Thomas Mann.
• The Ruling: After the House of Lords ruled in favor of closing an older track, the landowner was required by law to provide an alternative path for local weavers and their families.
• Naming and Route: Named Dampton Pad, the path connects Law Brae and the Dam Brae, crossing green fields and skirting Glentyan Woods.
